Habitus House of the Year

Habitus House of the Year exists to recognise the outstanding feats of architecture and design emerging from the Indo Pacific Region propelling our local industry to a global stage. In amongst our unique climatic conditions; the desire to be connected to nature; a rural/urban divide; and distinctive approach to design that unifies the Region, there are intriguing differences that result in unique architectural elements that signify personal response to site and brief.

The programme takes shape as an annual curation of 20 residential projects located across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia hand-selected by Habitus and our extensive team of architecture writers and editors on the ground. While they are all winners – identified for their exemplary approach and understanding of architecture, design, clients’ needs, site and geographical context – an independent jury of specialists is engaged each year for their unique perspective and assessment of the selected projects.
